You Changed Your Face and My Future Foretold

So it's been a while since I last posted. I guess I have two stories to share that just made me smile!

So I have to wear a badge at work, and it has my picture on the badge. I started working at my job two years ago so the picture is a bit out dated and I do look different, but to an adult you would be able to tell that it's still me. I was helping one of my pre-kindergartners last week and he saw my badge. He grabbed it and looked at the picture for what seemed like a rather long time.  He looked up at me and we then had this conversation:

"Who is that in that picture?"
"That's a picture of me!"
"No it's not."
"Really, that's a picture of me!"
"Oh....well you changed your face!"

He then carried on with his work. It had been a bit of a rough day, so that made me really smile!

My second story actually happened tonight. It is my nephews birthday tomorrow, so we celebrated it tonight. When I got to my sister's house I got to have this little conversation with my cute little niece and nephew:

"Aunt Krystle, you need to get married"
"Why is that?"
"Because you're getting old!"
"Maybe in a few years I'll get married"
"Ooo, what's his name? What's he like?"
"I have no idea, you tell me! What is his name, what is he like?"
"His name is Chris, and he's a dork!"
(my nephew)" I think he's cool!!"
"Oh and you're going to meet him tonight!"

HAHAHA oh man little kids are so great! Chris if you're out there, come find me! It's destiny! :)

patience

Ok, so my patience is very thin this week. I'm not sure why, but you know when your tube of toothpaste is at the very end of it's use, but you cant make it to the store for a few days so you squeeze the crap out of it to try and get what you can on your toothbrush just to last you the rest of the time? I feel like that's what I'm doing with my patience this week.

I may have used the last of it on Tuesday. We had our last field trip on Tuesday where we went to a hotel and met up with all the other sites and had a nice lunch. Well at the end of the lunch we asked if any of the kids needed to use the bathroom and we took those that said they needed to go. Lunch finished up and we went outside to get on the bus to head back to our site. As we are waiting one of our kids wet himself. I mean completely, not just his pants, his shirt, his pants, his socks, his shoes....EVERYTHING!!! When we asked why he didn't tell us he had to go, or why he didn't go when we took everyone else, he said simply, I didn't feel it? BAH it was a smelly mess.

I guess I can make it through the next few days by finding the funny things at work. This week we are learning about medieval times. On Friday it's a dress up day. As we were talking about this one kid raised his hand and said

Miss Krystle, can we dress up like a dwarf on friday?

I told him that we were dressing up as medieval times people and he responded

Well there are dwarfs in Lord of the Rings.....

haha looks like I'm just going to have to find the funny things through out the day to last through this week!

Peter Pan

So this isn't a story about my kids but about one of my co-workers.  He is constantly saying awkward things, or getting himself into awkward corners with things that he says.

Anyway, the other day the kids built a building with little blocks and they put a cross on top. He started talking to them and said: Catholics have the cross, Christians have a fish, and then there's the Mormons.....they have Peter Pan.

I was so confused! Peter Pan, where in the WORLD did he get that. I talked to a lot of my friends, trying to figure out where someone would associate Peter Pan with the Mormons. I finally talked to my brother who said, he probably looks at the Angel Moroni that sits on the top of our temples and thinks they look like Peter Pan. hahaha It made me laugh! I suppose, if Peter played a trumpet, it could look a bit like him.

You smell...kid style

So it's hot here and we had been playing outside. When we got inside one of my boys was rather sweaty and this conversation took place:

Girl: Hey ummm....you smell like tortillas!!

Boy: Oh yeah? Well you smell like a new hair cut!

Girl smiles, :Thanks!! I didn't get one!

It was a rather odd conversation to sit in on. Ah, as is my life!

Nervous eater.

At work every morning we have breakfast for the kids. This morning the following conversation took place:

Older kid: This chocolate milk has 5 grams of fat in it!

5 year old boy: OH NO!!!! Is it going to make us fat?!?

I laughed at this conversation but it also made me think...crap! what kind of society are we raising our kids in when a 5 year old boy is nervous that his chocolate milk is going to make him fat!

Half way married

So last week was Spring Break so things were more crazy and I had less time to really appreciate the little funny things the kids said. But no worries, they brought it all, full force, as soon as they came back. My favorite conversation went something like this:

"Miss Krystle, guess what?!?"
"What buddy?"
"I went to Disneyland, and when I got home my mom got half way married!"
"Do you mean she got engaged?"
"No...She got half way married!"
"How do you get halfway married?"
"I don't know...but he's from Australia so when he says hello to friends he says 'Hullo Mate'...it's silly."

I'm still confused on the whole "half way married" thing, but it happened... I guess!
